Professional Bio
Dr. Pablo L. Martínez Torres is the founder and CEO of World Language Education Consulting, LLC, and Edinumen USA Senior Instructional Strategist and Language Acquisition Expert, where he brings visionary leadership to initiatives that enhance proficiency-based language education. He is the former World Languages Curriculum and Foreign Exchange Specialist for Polk County Public Schools, a role he held from 2014 to 2025, during which he transformed the district's language programs by shifting instructional methodologies toward proficiency- and performance-based models. Before stepping into his current district-level role, he taught History, Spanish, ESOL, and Business Administration across diverse educational settings in Puerto Rico and Florida. His work introduced proficiency-based methodologies through the use of comprehensible input and tech-integrated learning across classrooms, training educators to foster engaging and inclusive language environments. Also, Dr. Martinez implemented a CI-based Spanish program for administrators after being awarded the FLDOE Stronger Connection Grant, which focuses on school safety.
He is the Past President of the Florida Foreign Language Managers of Education-WL District Supervisors (FFLAME), and a former member of the Florida Foreign Language Association Executive Board. Pablo has been the recipient of the World Languages Supervisor of the Year Award in the state of Florida twice in 2017 and 2024, and has spearheaded WL advocacy efforts to improve WL education in the state of Florida on issues such as the replacement of FL courses for computer coding and the review of the 2011 Florida Next Generation Sunshine WL Standards.
Academically, Dr. Martinez is the Director of multiple dissertation writing committees of the Second Language Research Ph.D. program at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Martínez’s research interest focuses on the leadership structures that support World Languages programs.
Dr. Martínez holds a bachelor’s in Secondary-History from the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras Campus, a master’s in international politics from Troy State University, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Florida Southern College.
Currently, Dr. Martínez is a business partner of Edinumen USA and the University of Salamanca, providing curriculum, pedagogical, and academic expertise to improve WL instructional materials and PD programs.
Dr. Martínez collaborates with World Languages organizations as a leader, keynote speaker, and presenter, with school districts as an independent consultant, and with local media outlets and textbook companies as a freelance writer, reviewer, and expert commentator on WL instruction and education affairs.
